Movie Review: Children Of Men

from the Wiki page...

"The film is set in a dystopian 2027 United Kingdom, where two decades of global infertility has left the entire human race with less than a century before extinction. The resulting widespread societal collapse has led to terrorism, environmental destruction, and the creation of millions of refugees. Humanity's seemingly best hope lies with the secretive Human Project, a group working to save the human species. When a pregnant West African refugee named Kee surfaces, civil servant Theo Faron (Clive Owen) is convinced to transport her, mankind's newly found future, to an awaiting rendezvous with the Human Project, while keeping her safe from Britain's active and oppressive crackdown on immigrants."

The movie starts off a bit slow, explaining the backstory and everything you need to know. Once that's over, stuff goes down. Quickly.

Each of the scenes is shot really well, using cuts only when necessary. Some scenes play out in one or two shots, giving the movie a more "real" quality, almost like a documentary.

The movie has drama, action, and keeps turning and moving until the very end. If you didn't see it in theatres, make damn sure to get your hands on the DVD.

Anyone else hate the snow?

At least now, anyway.

It should be getting warmer. That one 80 degree day really, really spoiled me, I think. I want to return again to staying out late without a foot of snow on the ground and wind chills of zero degrees.

Summer, you better get here fast.

PSSA's

Anyone think they were pretty easy after taking the SATs?

Anyway, I'm off to Study Chem, which, if I don't start studying for, will kick my ass quickly.

Prom Recap Post

Woooo hoooo

So, Let's start at Friday during school

1st Period- Lee. Weight Lifting, Deadlifting again, listened to james play his bass, all good.

2nd Period- Rosenburg's Class, crazy good. Watched Teen Girl Squad and played Nanaca Crash.

After 2nd, under the guise of Prom stuffs, I headed out early and went to Phuc's. We rallied the troops and saw 300. Mind Blowingly good. On the way back we discussed sociopolitical themes and ate Wendy's. All was good.

Got dropped off at The Casa and proceeded to nap. Woke up around 5, got suited up and looked surprisingly good. When I came downstairs, to no surprise, I had to take about 200 pictures, naturally.

After photos from my family, my Aunt, Mom, and myself hopped in a Benz and drove to Melissa's. I was first off shocked as hell that we matched, then I was happy as hell that she looked so much better than me. I felt really lucky and was just glad that I didn't look like a schmuck.

We started to drive off to prom when my Aunt couldn't realize the parking brake was on, fun times. We arrived and I was sure we were late. However, we were only the second couple from our table to appear, Sadie and Vince being the first.

Props to Vince and Sadie for knowing EVERYTHING at Prom.

Pictures and meeting people went super smooth. Everyone ate Hor D'Ourves (Spelling, anyone?) and after the speeches from class officers, Big Chair pictures and other picture hilarity ensued. [note:Someone send me the Sukaly pic NOW!] Vince then fixed my tie being the Prom Master he is.

From then on was dance time, and oh god, was it dance time.

Vince and I, or as I've come to calling us, The DoubleTeam, pretty much were all-up-ons a good portion of the people we knew at prom.

Victim list? Tricia, Derek, Matt, Royce, Becky, Sadie, Sean B, Sean Kelly, Josh, Josh Schwartz (one solo by yours truly, another tandem), Dan Schwartz, Arpeet, and even Ms. Rosenburg.

If I'm leaving you out, just let me know.

Best Reactions of the Night:

1. Derek for maintaining his cool while being double and triple teamed.

2. Becky for loving it, and she knows she did.

3. Ms Rosenburg for getting into it and then proceeding to give both Vince and I F's.

Vince, I told you it would happen!

All the dancing was amazing. Slow dances were nice, and the goofy attempts at dancing by myself and others were some things I will never forget. Thanks to everyone for being so icy chill.

Pictures are up on my facebook and myspace profiles, as well as on my flickr account, which you can see with one click on the right-hand side of the site.

Thanks to everyone who worked to put prom on and everyone who went for making it an amazing night.
